Robert “Bob” Betts

BA(hons) MSET, QTLS, Elite Founder

Bob is the Elite Academy’s founder (2010) and Master Trainer, with over 30+years expertise in providing outstanding high-quality training and services to thousands of students and organisations globally – setting the standards of competence and professionalism in the Private Security Industry - an expert and advisor in subject matter for the SIA, Health Care, Social Care and Education sectors – and has now made these programs and services available throughout Australasia.

His military and home office career as a senior officer created the foundation to later earn the honour of being the Operational Manager for the Olympic Delivery Authority, the Directorship of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) as Training Section Chairman and a position as part of the original focus team for the SIA qualification’s framework in 2004. Bob created one of the first Physical Intervention programs approved by the Security Industry and became one of the leading providers with over 500 companies both in the UK and abroad now trained in the Elite system.

A passionate and extremely driven mentor who has made the difference to so many, Bob’s relentless inspiration, integrity and human decency has founded the Elite family of trainers and security operatives serving and protection thousands across the world - a true leader, leading by example – the Elite way.

Greg Hanckel

Managing Director

Greg has over 20 years of Law Enforcement expertise serving in the Police Force and through his International Security Operations career including tactical operations and instructing, investigations, intelligence, surveillance, close personal protection of prominent international dignitaries and government officials, plus frontline hands on experience within both public and private sectors.

Greg’s presence combined with his situational awareness and agile approach to high risk situations are the essential ingredient for correct execution of delicate and confidential operations at every level. He is passionate about proper protocols, quality instruction, accurate drills, right mindset, professionalism and interpersonal skills as an experienced qualified Close Protection Operative, Weapons Proficiency and Armed Security Provider and Instructor.

Working with international governments instructing their operatives to a high standard, as well as undertaking government investigations, providing security and risk management assessments and solutions, Greg commands the etiquette, discretion, proficiency and professionalism required to work as an effective operative – physically and mentally.

Rebecca Hanckel

Managing Director

Rebecca has an extensive background in communication, facilitation, management, governance, training and assessment, leadership, negotiating and diplomacy at the individual, organisational and international relations level spanning over 20years. As a licensed Close Protection Operative, Armed Private Security Provider & Covert Surveillance Operative, Rebecca works with foreign dignitaries and government representatives, officiating negotiations, mediations, and international conferences.

Rebecca is a trainer, instructor and experiential learning designer, creating high level scenario-based training experiences and designing facilities for participants to maximise their proficiencies, hone their abilities and practice their competence – specialising in human excellence, high performance teams, and group/corporate training facilitation.

A strong advocate for women in the protection and security industry, Rebecca is also eager to further establish quality opportunities for women to best utilise their innate communication and diplomacy skills. Rebecca directs safeguarding in key areas of vulnerability, passionate about rescuing and protecting those most at risk, making a difference in the mental health arena, and the empowerment of others.

Sean Knowles

Global Operations

Sean served in the French Foreign Legion and his selection from the infamously rigorous brigade reconnaissance section saw him deployed on various missions throughout Africa, in some of the world’s most hostile environments and extreme conditions. His years contracted to commercial deep-sea diving multinational oil companies off the coast of Nigeria on heavy construction projects presented further gruelling experiences that Sean adapts to his instruction style.

Over the last decade, Sean’s unique insights and consulting capabilities are highly regarded by many organisations and governments around the world in providing protection solutions that meet their requirements. His frontline operational experience combined with his skills and qualifications lead our clientele and students to a high level of protection through his instruction, after service care and recruitment support.

Sean is passionate about fostering long term partnerships and good working relationships with international organisations. His unique insights and consulting capabilities are highly regarded by many organisations and governments around the world in providing protection solutions that meet their requirements.

Shane Tuer

Security Director

Shane is our resident security solutions expert! With over 20 years in the industry, he has managed protection operative teams, servicing a large client base, maintained discretion and a consistent high level of professionalism. He leads by example with exceptional hands-on operational skills and provides outstanding security solutions right when you need them.

His career started in the Australian Defence Force where he completed the Assault Pioneer Course, became proficient in offensive and defensive operations, weapons proficiency, marksmanship and is a qualified range safety officer.

Shane now combines his military capabilities with civilian service, extending into the private security sector as a qualified instructor and licensed service provider. He has extensive experience in armoured vehicle services, armed and unarmed close protection, protecting and transporting high value items, overt and covert operations, private investigations and surveillance, firearm safety and proficiencies, and knows how to keep people and property safe!

Brad Grieve

Instructor

With over a decade of frontline operational experience within the Police Service, Brad is a well renowned Use of Force Trainer, as well as a licenced firearms, weapons and defensive tactics instructor, training hundreds of students in personal protection. Having trained in Malaysia, Brad has bridged policing and protection as a qualified Close Protection Operative, further adding to his protection expertise and earning himself the Top Graduate Award in 2017.

Brad is passionate about the proficiency and accuracy required to perform to a high standard in the protection industry. He demonstrates and commands participants uphold a high level of personal and professional standards of operation in training scenarios and out in the field.
